WIN Works For You
Sadaharu (Sada) Honda, founder and president of WIN Advisory Group, Inc. is a former senior executive in Japanese-American business, professor, and author of The Sun Also Rises Over Toledo: Practical tips for Americans working with or for Japanese companies in the U.S. He leads the WIN team with the sure hand gained only by extensive experience.

WIN President Sada HondaIn 1984, Sada established MKK Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Japan's Maeda Corporation, in the United States. He led MKK from start-up to a multi-million dollar design-build construction management business. He subsequently co-founded the Honda Hershey Institute, a highly successful management consulting practice, specializing in addressing and resolving issues arising from cultural differences in Japanese owned and managed businesses.

Sada served as Executive Professor in Residence at the A. J. Palumbo School of Business at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh. At Duquesne, he was part of a progressive and unique MBA program, giving lectures and holding seminars on the practical aspects of Asian-American business.

Sada's contributions to bi-cultural relations between Japan and the United States go beyond business and academia.

Having practiced Karate from age 16, Sada was Captain of the Waseda University Karate Club in Tokyo. He was the first person to achieve a fifth degree black belt outside of Japan and has instructed many people in Pittsburgh and neighboring regions. In 1992, his work in Karate in the U.S. led to the Foreign Ministry of Japan awarding him an Order of Culture (Bunka Kourou Shou) for his contribution to the introduction of Karate in the USA. The Bunka Kourou Shou is given for outstanding cultural contributions and Sada is one of 14 singled out for this honor.

Sada's work in business, academia and the community has given him an international reputation in Japanese-US bi-cultural relations. From an engineer in an American steel company to President and Chairman of a Japanese business in the U.S., as professor, as consultant and as Karate instructor, he has been faced with the challenges arising when people of different cultures come together. He has met and exceeded those challenges and his knowledge about bi-cultural issues and his ability to resolve them are unsurpassed.

So when Sada set about establishing WIN Advisory Group's search consulting practice, he already had contacts and a one-of-a-kind perspective on placing candidates with Japanese-American companies. The search consultants he joined forces with also have extensive bi-cultural backgrounds.  The entire WIN team is familiar with and can overcome the barriers that can result when competitive, casual Americans work in companies where formal, harmonious business relationships are important.

What Does This Mean For You?
When you work with a WIN Advisory search consultant you benefit from this extensive bi-cultural experience. You get more than a quick telephone interview before heading off on your interview. You'll spend time in a comprehensive personal interview to make sure you are a good fit with the hiring company. Your concerns are addressed. You go into the interview prepared. Negotiation process assistance is provided. Lines of communication are kept open among you, the hiring company and your WIN search consultant.

WIN search consultants know that statistically, the first three months on the job are the toughest for candidates to become oriented to a company with strong bi-cultural characteristics. After a client company hires you, our consultants remain available and willing to step in to help resolve any difficult work-related issues.
