Mike Osakada

Recruiter

During his business career, Mike Osakada, WIN's recruiter in Southern California,

  • Worked for Japanese companies in Japan and the US, in businesses such as industrial electrical and machinery fields; test equipment, machines for automotive industries, and machine tools.
  • Completed market studies and developed American markets for Japanese companies.
  • Worked in international market development for industrial equipment all over the world.
  • Worked for an American company in Chicago, as liaison with Japanese OEM accounts.
  • In ten years as president of a Japanese machine manufacturer serving automotive industries in USA, restructured the entire business and substantially increased sales volume.

Experience has taught Mike that success depends on people—hiring people with ability and the desire to get the job done. The cultural differences between US and Japanese companies provide a unique set of obstacles in matching candidates with the right jobs, but Mike’s experience gives him the advantage in knowing how to find the best candidates for Japanese companies.

His advice for job seekers? "Consider long term goals when deciding whether or not to pursue a position. Don’t make an impulsive move just because a job looks good. Be confident that an opportunity is right for you before you make a change."

When Mike worked in sales and market development, he lived by the philosophy that if his product would not benefit a customer, he would not sell it to them. He feels the same way about executive search consulting. Passing on a commission is preferable to making a less than excellent match between employer and candidate.

In addition to comprehensive knowledge of business and industry, Mike’s work provided him with countless contacts in the Japanese business community. Let him put his experience and those contacts to work for you.
