Recruiter
"It's all in the details," is the sound philosophy offered by Kendra Boozel, WIN Advisory Group recruiter. She has the credentials to back-up that viewpoint. Before joining WIN, Kendra worked with US Investigative Services, a pre-employment screening and background investigation firm for both government and private sectors. During her stint at USIS, she learned how to review resume details and compare that information with data collected during the interview process, checking for consistency and/or missing information. She saw more than one quest for career change or advancement derailed because candidates neglected to get the details right.
Kendra's work with WIN Advisory Group is her first exposure to the Japanese work culture, but her thoughtfulness and attention to details are prerequisites for successful placement in any business environment, and those attributes have served her well in placing candidates with WIN's Japanese clients.
Just as important as Kendra's meticulous attention to detail is her focus on creating a good match between candidate and client. From start to finish in all of her projects, she keeps uppermost in mind not only the job description and experience requirements, but also the "softer side"
needs of both client and candidate. That the candidate will be happy working for this manager and that the client appreciates a candidate's enthusiasm are just as important in considering job fit as education and experience. "Not every interview results in a hire, but when it does and I hear the joy in the voices of the hiring manager and their new employee -- That's what keeps me excited about my job. I love to make people happy! I've always been a romantic at heart, and now I can be a sort of matchmaker by trade."
Asked what she would advise job candidates, Kendra replies, "Your resume is your first tool for getting your foot in the door. Please don't overlook the details that can make or break your chances. Pick the right font and a layout that clearly displays your career history and knowledge in a professional, easy-to-read format. Include date ranges of employment and education, and don't feel that you need to enhance the truth. It's easier and more honorable to explain the truth up front than be forced to defend an 'enhancement' later.
Kendra doesn't hesitate when it comes to learning more and being the best recruiter she can be. For a little more than a year, she represented WIN Advisory Group as a member of a national recruiting association. During that time, she worked with many recruiters from around the country, sharing ideas, resumes and recruiting tips. Even though WIN is no longer a member of the association, Kendra keeps in touch with personnel from some of those agencies who work the same industries and geographical areas as WIN Advisory Group.
